I had to wheel and deal with my neighbor to match him up but a guy's gotta do what he's gotta do for one like this. I saw him several times but always too far off and too dark to get pics of him. After the @#$%^ dow chased them down in a helicopter and whacked their horns off this year there were 3 I really wanted to find. Another guy found 1-1/2 of the 3, 3 others of us got one each of the other 3 big antlers, so I felt lucky just to end up with a set.

I love "horn huntin" Congrats on the match. I've never been so lucky, you would think that the big antlers would weigh so much that they fall off close to each other but noooooo! You are lucky to have a winter migration area so close to scout drink

Ditto.....I know they use the helicopters for survey purposes, but never heard of them whacking off the antlers. Give them a call about the incident and ask what the deal was.

We had this discussion quite awhile back and Topaz indicated they were using choppers to disperse the large herds that had concentrated in one area late in the Winter, that was my recollection?

Long story but I'm at work waiting on someone to come in and buy a million dollar ranch so here goes.

In Jan I was walking my 3 dogs on a county road and got warned for "harassment of game". Came to find out(on the following days dog walk) that they were chasing down bucks with a heli (I watched them do a couple) collar, weigh, and whacked off the horns then release them. -20 heavy snow and they are bitching at me for walking a plowed road as they are doing THIS crap?? Pissed me off to say the least.

Well I wasn't the only one that thought as usual they were being idiots. Meetings followed 100% in opposition except for the dow people that they packed in to tell us what pros they are and how it was for their own good. Well many lies were told and when eye witnesses refuted them they just changed the facts (story) Typical gov't bureaucratic idiocy CYA. They targeted some of the biggest bucks many of which I have photo'd over the last few years.

Then the rest of the story came out and they are just dying to whack off these big deer and pocket the proceeds of course. so they are going to "manipulate" the buck /doe ratios and study the mortality. At first they were just doing a mortality study but under cross examination unfolded a long term study that involves a lot more dead deer, bucks of course not does.

Anyway they listened to 100% opposition and then told us well we're gonna do it anyway so get used to it. Some of the victims are as follows: (this gives me an excuse to post my new doctored pics of these deer- not quite up with boomer yet but getting a new computer and high speed makes this stuff pretty cool)

I strongly suspect they got these ones too but I cannot be sure.

They cut the horns off for "safety reasons" but when it was pointed out that why was it the last thing they did before getting back in the chopper they had to rearrange their facts a bit.
